Roughing Hand Tap

Roughing taps are also referred to as taper, or 1st lead.

Roughing taps are used in conjunction with either the Finishing or Bottoming tap

It has up to 8 tapered threads that give a gradual cutting action, preparing a tapped hole that is marginally undersize in diameter prior to the use of the Finishing or Bottoming tap.

This provides a longer cutting life of the Finishing and Bottoming tap.

Recommended for use with large diameter sizes, coarse pitch threads or tough materials.
